Pongal O Pongal

Children sat under the trees at the campus and watched rice Pongal being made by the elders. Teachers showed them the ingredients and the different steps involved in making the delicious dish. As the sweet aroma filled the air , Foot steppers were soon tucking in generous helpings of rice pongal.

Picnic - January 2008

Picnic Day was a huge success as Foot Steppers came with their families to an idyllic location - a private beach house - on the ECR. Watching the fishing nets being drawn in, exploring the beach with the little ones, fun at the swimming pool, games galore for all and a sumptuous lunch ensured that all the little ones slept with smiles on their faces as they hit the road back to Chennai at twilight.

Sports Day - January 2008

Foot Steppers donned their competitive spirits and sports shoes for this fun event. The parents were visibly more spirited at the sound of the whistle encouraging their children with 'come-ons, oohs and aahs'. All enjoyed the field and track events and also the Gold finger eating and sweet picking competitions... Both parents and children left with trophies and prizes.

Annual Concert - Dec 2007

The much awaited event of the academic year was staged in the Foot Steps open air theatre on a cool and pleasant December evening. With the arc lights shining brightly on the children - they performed a variety programme surprising parents and grandparents.
There were dances, mimes, plays and musicals such as Akkadam Bakkadam Hanuman, Old Mac Donald with his retinue of farm animals, Jungle by Aqua, Santa from the Pole, Fluffy Cat, the Bears and the Rabbits and more. The finale was a spectacular tableau of Santa and his world of Elves, Fairies, Wizards, and Reindeers etc. Gifts were given by Santa himself to all the students and their siblings. All the Foot Steppers participated in the concert.

Carol Singing - Dec 2007

It was 3 days of melody and fun for the Foot Steppers as they went carol singing house to house in and around Thiruvanmiyur. Clad in bright uniforms, the children gave beautiful renditions of many popular carols including Jingle Bells, Deck the Hall, Aloha, Santa Claus is Coming to Town etc. Parents, neighbours and friends enjoyed watching the little ones sing confidently in different locations and ambiances each day. The spirit of Christmas was shared by all, irrespective of religion and language.

Our Curriculum

The education we provide at Footsteps concentrates on four key factors – physical, intellectual, emotional and social in equal proportions. Our aim is to mould well balanced future citizens for the global village. Our curriculum is well founded and receives constant up gradation. It is essentially an ideal mixture of the Montessori and the Conventional. The guidelines for standard behaviour here are self discipline and self respect

The program for this school was formulated by three experienced educators :

Mrs. M Ramachandran - a nursery teacher throughout her life, she has 18 years experience in Sishya School . Now she runs her own nursery school at Lucknow
Mrs. Rachel Thomas – a teacher by profession and currently Vice Principal of St. Paul’s, New Delhi
Mrs. Soma Mathew – Registrar, Overseas Family School, Singapore.

In Detail...
Physical Development : A Footstepper advances in dexterity, muscle motor co ordination, eye hand co ordination and sensorial adroitness through planned activities such as PT sessions, elementary yoga , puzzle, art and craft sessions.

Intellectual Development : This includes acquiring language skills, environmental awareness, aesthetics and creativity and Academics. A Footstepper evolves a positive attitude to learning and cultivates flexible approaches to problem solving which develops original thinking. He or she also acquires the rudiments of Alphabets, Numbers, Colours, Shapes, Sizes, Songs & Rhymes etc

Emotional Development : We stimulate Self Expression in all areas which contributes to the emotional maturity of a Footstepper We develop self-reliance in most activities at school which in-turn gives Confidence. Dramatics is also used frequently to enhance expressiveness.

Social Development: The Footstepper child acquires good interpersonal skills, responsibility and an environment friendly outlook through the daily activities and overall style of education given. Etiquette and manners are insisted upon and well trained child finds good acceptance in all major schools at the end of the course.
